Here's what to expect from a typical Introductory
Flight:
A quick ‘pre-flight’ briefing with
your Instructor.
If time allows, a demonstration of the
pre-flight ‘walk-around’ inspection of the aircraft.
Once on board in the Pilot’s seat, you will be shown how to taxi
an aircraft and then you get to ‘drive’ it around on the way to
the take-off runway (hint: you steer it primarily with your feet
when taxiing).
The Instructor might perform the take-off but, once you are off
the ground and away from the airport, we turn the controls over
to you and ‘talk you through’ some simple rudimentary exercises.
You will fly the airplane around for about ½ hour and all
the way back to ‘short final’, just before landing. The Instructor
will probably want to land the airplane.
